I've had this a month and just fully cleaned it for the first time. It took about 5 minutes to fully clean, including the pump, and a couple minutes to reassemble. I did watch the helpful video about how to clean the pump and had to use a knife to open it.
My two boys took to this fountain immediately. They are 12yrs old and never had a fountain before. One of my cats is a terrible splasher, and there was always water on thy floor around the bowls. I'm lucky that both of my cats like to drink water. This fountain ensures they have plenty, and the fountain seems to satisfy most, if not all, of Yuki's need to see the water moving around.
My 2 cats and dog love this water fountain. Cats stopped trying to get water from my sink to drink. I fill the bowl with ice and water. The stainless steel keeps water cold. The filters work extremely well. Easy to clean. Holds a lot of water. Suggest buy extra filters when purchasing. Ive been changing every month. It is quiet. When you start to year a trickle sound, it is getting low on water. No batteries, uses usb plug.
We keep our cats water separate to encourage consumption for dehydration prone kitties. Recently our older cat began hitting his water bowl to encourage the water to move...an instinct for cats to ensure healthier water. We changed back to a fountain for him. Mission accomplished and no spillage. This is a simple product and the stainless steel just feels cleaner. Make sure to buy extra filters...you do not realize how much junk there is in water. Really helps with cats who have developed CKD and need to flush their system with clean water.
After numerous failures in trying to get a fountain for my cats, this one is a great success! The stainless steel is better than plastic for their skin, keeps the water cooler and is easier to clean. Its also sturdy and solid enough to not slide around the floor or get tipped over, even with several 18+ pound cats in the house. The spout is high enough for sink drinkers to get their preferred experience, whether drinking from the falling stream or the shallow surface tray. No spurts of water up the nose! The tray on top keeps the splashers from emptying the whole bowl onto the floor at once, while the deep bowl underneath keeps a steady supply available. The small drain from the top to the bowl directs all the water straight through the first filter, which is easy to clean and change. The motor is super quiet, and the splashing sound is minimal and pleasant. Skittish and bold cats alike seem to really enjoy it. The one and only con for me is is not being able to see the current water level, but after a month in use Ive found that I need to just plan to add water pretty much every time I walk into the room, its that popular.
